I first came across yoga when I was working in Thailand as a dive master. It was a stressful job as I was dive guiding and responsible for the lives of up to 10 people underwater. When a yoga teacher appeared on the island, I went along not knowing what to expect as I had never done yoga before. Within the first 10 days of practising, I knew that yoga would become part of my life. Little did I know then that I would make it my whole life and career.
I returned from travelling and trained to be a yoga teacher with the British School of Yoga in 1999. I then went on to do further training in other related areas like Thai Chi and meditation.
One of the most impactful yoga teacher trainings I attended was Kashmir Yoga. Kashmir yoga was my first introduction to the Nervous System functions. Kashmir yoga taught me to meet my students where they were through language and movement. It helped me to understand how adults in particular could change the way they moved just by using their creative imagination, sensations awareness or sound connections.
Reflex Yoga is the brainchild of my and Nicole Zimbler’s lifetime work. It is born of my natural ability to develop a Yoga method alongside Nicole’s massive knowledge of the reflex system, which I have also studied extensively.
Reflex yoga directly treats the primitive reflex system and uses yoga to ground the work in the body. The results that adults and children experience from this Yoga method are astounding: from the small things that change people’s lives forever, to huge shifts in a child’s development issues. Reflex Yoga is a powerful tool for every Body.
During Lockdown I was inspired to look online for further training and I came across two modalities that I have absorbed into my work since. The first was Melanie Tonia Evans’s work in NARP and the second was Claire Zammit’s work of Evolving Wisdom.
Melanie’s work was particularly personal to me and it taught me about Empowerment from within. How to create personal boundaries and resource myself. I still use it to this day when I need to and it has helped countless others I have passed the information on to.
Claire’s work was the final piece of the jigsaw that made sense of everything I have ever learnt. I came across it through Melanie’s newsletters and though reluctant at first, when I first heard Claire speak about what Feminine Power actually was, I was inspired. I took her course and have never looked back.
