The main aim of physical therapy/yoga is to bring your body, mind, hormones and nervous system out of Survival mode and into Thrive mode.

Using a variety of physical therapy/yoga tools gained over many years as a Yoga Teacher, Yoga for Autism Teacher Trainer and Therapist, as well as a host of other skills gained in the 25 years of teaching and practice, I bring a made-to-measure tool kit for you to explore what works for you.

Learning how your body works best in releasing stress and tension is so important as we are all individuals with differing needs.

When the body is in flight or fight mode, we are functioning from our Primitive Reflex area of the brain ( also known as the base brain or ‘downstairs’ brain.) When this part of the brain is dominating our function, we are unable to access the higher thinking powers of our mind. 

When we are running from the bear in the woods, we do not need to think about the wonders of the world! We just need to run. The left and right brains disconnect making us either left or right-brain dominant and the prefrontal cortex is also disconnected.

This means that we’re not thinking straight making decision making, motivated, focused, centeredness, difficult to access.

If there has been deep trauma, it may well be that we are functioning from this place all of the time. We may not remember a time when we were not. However, we have a sense that something is not quite right, that “we are not ourselves”

Although talking therapy can help, the Primitive Reflex system is in charge of changing the brain functions from Survival to thriving. I use techniques that come from a modality called RMTi which automatically switches the brain functions from one to another. It is delicate work and I use embodiment work (such as Yoga) asanas to ground the changes in the body.

The therapeutic aspects of this work are easy to access and do not involve any acrobatics or breathing work.

You can be at any level of fitness or health and mostly they take a couple of minutes to complete. This is the most accessible form of bodywork I have ever come across.

What I love best about this work is the understanding that there is something simple, easy to do that can give you hope.

It can help you to become unstuck without too much physical effort yet it can literally rock your world and help you to move forward in life.
